Seems these brands of america need to join forces to compete correctly with these oriental entries. Is it too much to envision Nascar as the pre-eminate authority to govern such a venue of stock-car racing?

No…and here’s why. The “Big Three” are just too different. Ford seems to be able to produce the most quality cars of the lot, but they really went wrong with the latest Focus; fortunately the 2009 model is supposed to be the European model or AKA Mazda 3.
Dodge just went completely wrong when they started eliminating manual transmissions, that eliminates a whole set of buyers, I know it turned me away. GM just doesn’t have the quality anymore, they’re like the American version of Mercedes. GM actually has better products in Europe than they do in America under the Opel and Vauxall (sp?) labels; some of this quality is trickling back via Saturn (GM owned) in the Astra, although the American Astra is not the great performer that the Opel Astra is.
NASCAR will never be the authority in racing, especially with stock cars…there is not anything left stock in them! If yo want to grad performance engines, you have to look at the Le Mans or American Le Mans series, or even the Speed World Challenge GT Series. Besides, it’s more fun to watch cars that can make left AND right turns (yes, I’ve been to Watkins Glen) and when it’s a race of cars where you can actually tell the difference between one car brand and another besides by looking at the hood decal.

are you retarded Toyota is the only Car built in the USA
June 5th, 2009 at 6:24 pm
Uh, looks like you don’t know this-Toyota’s are built here in the USA. Over 50% of the parts Chevy, Ford and Dodge install in new cars are built OVERSEAS and imported, same as Toyota.
They can’t do anything about it anyway-the France family that owns NASCAR let them in because of $$$$ paid by Toyota.
Don’t be shocked if Dodge is pulled out by Chrysler before the 2009 season. They’ve already notified Evernham of a reduction in factory support and money.

What they need to do is pull together to abolish the UAW!

God no if that happens i will be pissed. I like the fact its like the real world were the 3 brands compete to see whos better. If they joined it would so to say take away the rivalry.

They are actually more concerned about manufacturing automobiles for the American public. So my answer is “no”

Don’t see it happening as each of these manufacturers have their hands in the forgien car market by ownership.
