I have a 2005 Chrysler pacifica. It is all wheel drive and there are no buttons or switches inside the car that gives the option to switch from 4 wheel to 2 wheel drive. I want to save gas by making the car only 2 wheel drive. Can this be done?

If you really wanted to you would have to take the front shaft out but it’s not going to make a difference your going to get the same gas mileage

The Pacifica is designed as full time All-Wheel-Drive which means there is no choice for 2 wheel or 4 wheel operation. Removing the driveshaft to the rear axle will disable the system, but you’ll still have the drag of the rotating rear end parts and you may damage the power transfer unit if driven too long like this. To increase the mileage, your best bet will be a throttle body and fuel injection cleaning, plus a tune-up. Keep your tires inflated to the proper level (35 psi). Good luck.
