we are looking for a front end to put into my ’56 ford pickup and want a mustang 2 front end, but my dads friend just bought a 1990 mustang lx for some parts and said we could have the front end but we dont know if it will fit or what the difference is between the two front ends. any info would be great. thanks

a mustang 2? What the heck is that??!! the LX is the lesser of the series however still nice.. it would probably work but with torque and power behind the 56 ford you’ll want the GT or simular front end.. it’s usually the rear end that makes a difference but as far as all this goes try it. It sounds free… couldn’t hurt to save money?

a mustang II front end doesnt have shock towers. alot of drag racers used them before the aftermarket guys started building similar set ups. find a mustang II front end if you can. good luck

The Mustang II is an independent system that utilizes uppr and lower control arms with a x-member and rack and pinion steering. The ’90 LX uses a strut-type suspension that requires a ‘tower’ in the engine bay to mount the upper strut bolts — not a good plan for a ’56 pickup. The Mustang II will be a great chioce — you can buy them brand new from several aftermarket sources from stock to chrome with tubular control arms and coil-over shocks.

Unfortunately, these are entirely different front ends.
The Mustang II front end is an entire assembly – steering and suspension – and is easily adapted to most any vehicle. There are also many aftermarket parts available for these front ends.
