It uses Dextron III, i found that out by looking at the dipstick. I will most likely need to flush, but i have never done anything with a Saab before so i was wondering if i could find intructions or something helpful. Thanks.

Lucky for you, the Saab 9-5 has not changed much since 1997. The 9-5 experienced something of an overhaul in 2007 but kept the same mechanicals. So your 1999 is the same as 2002, which has instructions posted on the internet to change the transmission fluid. You can find it here:

Just follow the link and the step by step instructions and you can do it yourself, although it is apparently easier to do it on a lift – so if you have access to one that may be useful. Good luck, this should make it simiple to do.
