My father is giving me a 1992 saab 900 it has almost 200000 miles on it..he told me the oil seal on the engine needs replacing how much would this cost? What can i expect to go wrong with this car? How hard is it to find parts?

Oil seals do not cost much,but for instance if it is the rear crank shaft seal leaking the engine or gear box will have to be removed for access.
at 200 000 miles it should still be going strong if well cared for in the past.
Saab parts are not that difficult to find.

If that is a so-called Classic Saab 900 (see saabcentral.com for the different families), to change the rear main seal, you remove the clutch with slave cylinder, than the flywheel, and then change the seal. Only remove the engine and transmission out of the car, and even separate them if you are really bored. You do not have to do any of that to change clutches or rear main seals in a Classic Saab 900. eeuroparts.com or sasponline.com can provide you with maintenance items for the car.
