Wonderful shape as described. I ordered 2 books at the same time and one was delivered quickly however, the other one took a couple of weeks longer. But they did not charge any additional shipping so I didn’t mind the wait since I didn’t need it right away.

It’s hard to figure out how to rate this one because it’s nearly identical to Toyota Matrix & Pontiac Vibe: 2003 thru 2008 (Chilton’s Total Car Care Repair Manual). The only real differences I could find in a side-by-side comparison was in typesetting and paper quality, with a few minor organizational differences. The Chilton’s version is printed in a slightly larger san-serif font on a little heavier paper; that’s about it. I guess since Haynes actually published both, the lack of difference should not be surprising. The Haynes version just has a slighter cheaper “feel”.

On the other hand the material is not that bad. Though much the general material has been recycled over the years and generically applies to just about any car, it’s still nice to have handy in one volume. Though I would really like to see a de-emphasis on issues like how to overhaul an engine and see more detail that would be useful for the “backyard mechanic”. For example, I’d like to see more detailed instructions with more pictures on how to replace the struts and less information about honing cylinder walls… I think the average home mechanic is far more likely to do the former than the later.

I’d actually give the book 4 stars if it wasn’t for being nearly identical to the Chilton’s (higher print quality) version. Personally, I’d recommend spending the few extra dollars and get the Chilton’s instead; simply due to the larger font and heavier stock paper.

I bought this manual specifically because I wanted a complete repair manual that included the all-wheel drive Matrix. Alas, there is no information contained here on the all-wheel drive model, and there is no way to discover this without having a copy of the manual. I also bought the Chilton’s manual for the same vehicle, and the same was true there: no AWD coverage, and no way to find that out in advance. In fact the Chilton’s manual (published by the Haynes Publishing Group) includes many pictures identical to those in this manual.
