First of all (and very important), the light bulb sits above the presser foot, the buttonhole lever (which is large), and the needle threader lever, all of which block the light, leaving little light to see by. What light filters down has dark spots mixed in with light spots. Secondly, the bobbin and bobbin case do not fit easily into the shuttle, which is set on the side, not the top, below the presser foot. It requires lifting a tiny lever, setting it in the bobbin case, making sure it’s locked (but you can’t tell if it is), then releasing the lever. Half the time it’s not locked and you start all over again. Thirdly, the one-step buttonholer does not make a very nice buttonhole and requires extra cross-stitching on one side or other of the buttonhole. Otherwise, this machine is sturdy and makes very nice stitches of all kinds, which are perfectly straight and even. It also sews through several thicknesses without breaking the needle. The lack of good lighting causes the most problems.
